In this post , we share our team visit experience to Chunchi falls near Kanakapura , about 80 kms from Bangalore.

Highlights of this Spot
  • The water fall is formed by river Arkavathi flowing from top of a hillock ranging 70 to 80 feet
  • Surrounded by arkavarthy river rock faces
  • River water joins at Sangama point along with Cauvery which is about 10 kms from this spot.

Our team took the 6km deviation on the Kanakapura-Sangama highway to reach this spot . This passes through narrow roads inside 2-3 villages . We noticed , feeding silk worms & silk extraction was common in many village houses.  The last 1 km was bit tiresome with bumpy roads , however well directed.

On reaching the spot , we had to pay Rs.30 for the parking fee. We were greeted by hawkers selling juice , cold water , bhel puri , cucumber , fruits , snack items etc . Water falls is exactly 1 km from this spot and has to be reached only by walk trekking. The path was quite bumpy with small rocks giving us a real trekking experience.

After covering 3/4th distance , we noticed a rock on which a iron viewing tower was consecrated. The view from this spot is awesome. However to get a perfect view of the water falls one has to descend further. It is recommended not to try swimming in the river as the forces may be strong and sometimes even deeper. Special notices were put all along . Senior citizens may find it very difficult to pass through this 1 km journey.
